South Africa is dealing with a new coronavirus variant.
C.1.2. was first detected in South Africa in May and has spread to all nine provinces.
According to research, the variant has been associated with increased transmissibility, neutralisation resistance, and disease severity.
Criselda Kananda took to Twitter to pray for South Africa’s protection from the deadly virus.
“Dear God, by grace we were spared from the alpha, beta and delta variants. We kneel before you asking for protection from the new one C.1.2. Show these variants who’s Boss. Amen,” she wrote on Twitter.

She also encouraged people to do their best to stay safe.
“As for the rest of us, we continue doing all in our power to stay alive. May the souls of those lost to COVID Rest In Peace. We shall overcome,” she wrote.
Kananda has recovered from COVID-19.
She shared her experience with the virus on Twitter earlier in June.
”I survived COVID Pneumonia. Thank you @sunninghillhospital ICU staff for the care and dedication. Covid symptoms keep changing. Please Keep being vigilant we are under siege. To my friends and family Thank you for the prayers. For the first time even I feared for my life,” she wrote.
