The City of Cape Town says it anticipates an increase in the number of mourners who will bid farewell to the late Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
The body of the anti-apartheid theologian is set to arrive this morning at St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town.
This is where it will lie in state for a final day for mourners to pay their final respects.
According to the city, over a thousand people gathered yesterday to view his body ahead of his funeral on Saturday.
Among them was Reverend Canon Craig Abrahams who expressed gratitude for the impact made by Tutu.

At the same time Tutu has been hailed by some young people for his contribution to the LGBTQI+ community in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Friday is the last time the bells at the cathedral which have been ringing for 10 minutes every day at noon since his death will toll in his honour.
Following a week of mourning, the late Archbishop is set to be laid to rest in Cape Town on Saturday.
