Chippa United have, once again, withdrawn their appointment of Luc Eymael, this time in his capacity as Technical Advisor.
As they did in December, when they tried to hire Eymael as head coach, the Chilli Boys received backlash for bringing the Belgian back to South Africa.
Eymael was accused of making racist remarks late last year, calling fans of the Tanzanian side he was coaching monkeys.
Following the uproar, SAFA confirmed that the former Free State Stars coach would never be allowed to work in this country again.
Upon his appointment as an advisor, Chippa stated that they had approached the national association to grant the club the freedom to hire Eymael, something the association is yet to corroborate.
In their most recent statement, released yesterday, the Eastern Cape outfit has confirmed the Nedbank Cup-winning coach has returned to Belgium and will not be roped in.
However, they have declared war with the SABC and veteran broadcaster Robert Marawa for what they call the promotion of an agenda through politics on his sports show.
Chippa claims that Marawa has perpetuated a narrative about the club that proved detrimental to the brand and went against the PSL’s regulations.
They say they will be issuing a complaint to the SABC, will raise the issue with the league and could pursue further legal action.
