American musician Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being convicted of a $1 million fraud scheme.
The Beautiful Girls hitmaker used his celebrity status to trick sellers into handing over luxury goods that he never paid for.
His sentencing was handed down in a South Florida courtroom on Friday, 15 June 2025.
Prosecutors revealed that Kingston contacted victims via social media, convincing them to sell him high-end items.
He would invite them to his Florida homes to finalise deals and often encouraged them to promote their products online, even connecting them to other celebrities.
But when payments were due, Kingston or his mother would send fake wire transfer receipts, leading sellers to believe they had been paid.
While most victims received nothing, a few were only reimbursed after law enforcement intervened.
The Jamaican, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were convicted in March on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.
Turner received a five-year prison sentence last month.
Before his sentence was announced, Kingston apologised to the judge, saying he had learned from his actions.
His lawyer requested that he be allowed to self-surrender at a later date due to health concerns, but the judge ordered him taken into custody immediately.
Dressed in a black suit and white shirt, Kingston removed his jacket before being handcuffed and led out of the courtroom.
