Today marks the day that South Africans celebrate Heritage Day.
Kaya 959’s presenter, Brenda Sisane, shares more about her roots and how she will be spending the day.
Please share what your heritage is?
My heritage is my mixed ancestry spanning family roots that go beyond SA into Mozambique as well as the deep roots of Bakgatlha le Barolong tribes. My personal pan African paradigm is shaped by this background and genealogy.
What makes you proud of your heritage?
It’s proud people, their resilience and achievements despite the struggles they have to withstand.
How will you be celebrating Heritage Day?
Working at a music event thus celebrating our common heritage of being humans.
A message to South Africans this Heritage Day?
We should strive to be better humans who see each other as being equal and deserving of all that is good about being on this planet.
