Ayanda Kubeka from Thokoza has become the latest victim of gender-based violence in the province. The 25-year old woman was brutally murdered allegedly by her boyfriend Sandile Magwaza who is currently on the run.
According to her father Douglas Kubeka, his daughter was living with the suspect. They were in a relationship for 5-years.
Ayanda worked at a retail outlet at Mall of the South, Johannesburg and was the youngest of 3 daughters.
She sustained severe wounds to her back and upper body and her head was nearly decapitated.
It is believed Ayanda and her boyfriend argued heatedly before the landlord heard her go silent.
As reported by the Ekurhuleni News, the landlord’s daughter-in-law went to enquire after hearing a loud bang coming from their room.

She was told by the suspect that everything is okay and that they were just arguing. The woman called Ayanda’s name but there was no response.
After getting into the house they found Ayanda’s bloodied body and the suspect ran away.
Ayanda’s family believes Sandile Magwaza has fled back home to Kwa Ngoma, Kwazulu-Natal. Her family have opened a murder case at the Thokoza police station.
Police are urging anyone with information on the suspects whereabouts to come forward.
Ayanda Kubeka was laid to rest on Wednesday, 8 December at her family home in Thokoza.
