Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes is defending his daughter Kairo against internet users who had a lot to say about her tribute to King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu.
His Majesty passed away in hospital last week at the age of 72.
Kairo, who has one million followers on Instagram, joined scores of South Africans in paying tribute to the Zulu monarch.
“Our nation has lost a king. Hamba kahle Silo samabandla. King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu,” a post on her page read.
The five-year-old’s page is run by her grandmother, Lynn Forbes, who probably wrote the caption for her.
It is also possible that Kairo’s mom, DJ Zinhle – whose family is from KwaZulu-Natal, made the post.
AKA shared a screenshot of Kairo’s post on his Twitter page.
But some social media users thought the post was weird.
“This is weird, can kids even be kids anymore?” one Twitter user replied.
Another user added: “Cringe.”

Some people came to Kairo’s defence, saying her family was just helping her send her condolences.
“Kairo has every right to send condolences to King Goodwill Zwelithini, her mom is Zulu,” one Instagram commented.
“Zinhle tweets on her child’s behalf… What’s weird about passing condolences,” a Twitter user wrote.
AKA defended his daughter, saying there is nothing weird about her celebrating her heritage.
What’s weird? A 5 year old celebrating/honouring her heritage? https://t.co/yFWJoiXDM7

He also clapped back at a user who said Kairo probably has no idea who the king is.
