At least 6 people have died and an estimated 40 others have been injured in a devastating stampede in a Cameroon stadium.
The last-16 clash between Cameroon and Comoros, at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde had 50,000 frantic fans rushing into the stadium ahead of the match.
The stadium has a capacity of 60,000 but due to Covid-19 regulations could only permit 80% crowd attendance.
This meant that only 48,000 people would be allowed into the stadium.
A number of people have been hospitalised. The stampede started at the entrance to the stadium and several people, including children were crushed.
There are a number of people with severe injuries and the death toll from the tragedy could rise.
Eyewitnesses report that fans became hysterical after officials closed the gates and stopped allowing people entrance into the stadium.
Six people are reported to have been killed and dozens hurt in a crush outside a stadium hosting an Africa Cup of Nations match in Cameroon.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has since confirmed the incident and say an investigation is underway.
Despite the chaos outside the stadium, the match did kick off on time.
Cameroon won by 2 goals to 1, with Comoros reduced to 10 men after 7-minutes.
