A South African 4/20 Playlist – The best songs to celebrate this day.
Today the 20th of April marks the global celebration of 4/20, a day synonymous with the smoking of cannabis at 16:20 on this day (4/20) across the globe.
South Africans have had the privileged of through legislation to enjoy the infamous plant.
The Constitutional Court of South Africa decriminalized cannabis for adult personal use in private settings.
However, there are still rules that forbid cannabis sales and usage outside of a person’s own home.
The meaning of 4/20 differs from individual to person. Some only want to party and get high. Others view the day as an opportunity to advocate for legalization, particularly in places where it remains illegal.
The ruling meant South Africa is the third country in Africa to decriminalize marijuana, after neighbouring Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
