Teachers and staff at Akani Metmar school in Diepsloot have embarked on a strike due to issues with management.
A group of about 20 teachers staged a picket yesterday near the school gates demanding their grievances be addressed.
The workers who allege that the principal is un-qualified, are demanding that she, along with others be removed from their posts.
The school’s board has issued a statement declaring the strike by the teachers as unlawful.

The teachers and ground staff at the school in Diepsloot say most of the management officials at the school are foreign nationals who treat them badly.
At the same time, the board of the school has threatened the striking teachers with no work, no pay.
A teacher from Akani Metmar school who has chosen to remain anonymous for fear of victimization says they first raised their issues in February, but nothing has been done. The teachers say they will continue with their strike indefinitely.
