Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo has called for a thorough investigation into the fatal bus fire that occurred on Moloto Road in Tshwane.
Six people lost their lives when the Putco bus they were travelling in burst into flames on Friday. They were burnt beyond recognition.
Several other commuters were injured in the blaze.
Commuters reportedly alerted the driver that the bus was on fire. By the time he stopped the vehicle, it was already engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.

MEC visits survivor
Mamabolo has sent his condolences to family members who lost loved ones in the blaze.
He says details on what caused the tragic accident will help bring them closure.
Mamabolo visited Steve Biko Academic Hospital on Sunday to check up on one of the survivors of the fire.
“The patient sustained injuries from the fire and smoke inhalation. The injuries are very serious, and I want to convey my full support and solidarity to the patient and wish her a speedy recovery.”
The MEC says his department has appointed its own independent investigator, supported by a team of fire experts, to look into the cause of the fire.
