The annual art fair has brought together galleries, artists, collectors and art lovers from across Africa at the Sandton Convention Centre.

FNB Art Joburg has returned to the Sandton Convention Centre, bringing together leading African galleries, emerging artists, collectors and art lovers.
The annual art fair showcases contemporary art from 19 African countries, allowing visitors to experience the continent’s diverse creative talent.
Whether you are an aspiring artist, an established collector or simply passionate about contemporary art, FNB Art Joburg offers something for everyone.
FNB Events Marketing Lead Nkosana Matyeshana spoke to Phemelo Motene on Kaya 959’s Point of View about what visitors can expect from this year’s fair.
Matyeshana says the creativity on display continues to evolve, with artists constantly finding new ways to express themselves.
“The beauty about creatives is that they keep reinventing themselves. They keep pushing and giving us something new. So each year, we can look forward to something fresh. Some things will shock us and some things will still be classic,” said Matyeshana.
He says FNB Art Joburg remains one of the most impactful art fairs on the continent, with its ability to continuously evolve helping to sustain the event.
Matyeshana says one of the fair’s key objectives is to expose African artists and galleries to both local and international audiences.
“The main theme was, how do we get African artists and galleries to the audience of the world and actually to the local audience? Sharing this event exposes the work of our local artists to the international public, and I think that is what remains true about it and has sustained it for 19 years,” he said.
The event officially opened on Friday, 4 September 2026, bringing together creatives from across Africa.
FNB Art Joburg continues until Sunday, 6 September 2026, at the Sandton Convention Centre.
