Mozambican national Joaquim Armando Pacula slapped with 25-year sentence for the murder of DJ Warras

  • Mozambican national Joaquim Armando Pacula has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.
  • Pacula pleaded guilty to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and contravening the Immigration Act, admitting that he was paid R25,000 to kill Stock.
  • Meanwhile, investigations into the second accused, Victor Majola, are continuing, with his case postponed to 17 August 2026.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has secured a 25-year sentence for Mozambican national Joaquim Armando Pacula after he confessed to killing slain media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.

The sentence follows a plea agreement between the State and the accused.

Pacula pleaded guilty to charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and contravening the Immigration Act. He also admitted that he shot and killed Stock in exchange for R25,000.

“The court sentenced him to 25 years’ imprisonment for murder, eight years’ imprisonment for the unlawful possession of a firearm, six months’ imprisonment for the unlawful possession of ammunition, and 12 months’ imprisonment for contravening the Immigration Act,” said NPA spokesperson in Gauteng, Magaboke Mohlatlole.

All the sentences will run concurrently with the 25-year sentence imposed for murder.

Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock was brutally murdered last year on Reconciliation Day outside the Zambesi Building in the Johannesburg CBD.

Magaboke says investigations into the second accused, Victor Majola, are underway.

His case remains before court and has been postponed to 17 August 2026 for the conclusion of the pre-trial conference.

    1. Definitions and Interpretation

    1.1.“Personal Information” means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person and where it is applicable, identifiable, existing juristic person, including all information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. 

    1.2  Parliament assented to POPIA on 19 November 2013. The commencement date of section 1, Part A of Chapter 5, section 112 and section 113 was 11 April 2014. The commencement date of the other sections was 1 July 2020 (with the exception of section 110 and 114(4). The President of South Africa has proclaimed the POPI commencement date to be 1 July 2020.

     
    1.3. “Processing” means the creation, generation, communication, storage, destruction of personal information as more fully defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
