The Queen of Gospel marked the milestone with a glamorous celebration attended by some of South Africa’s biggest stars.

South African gospel icon Dr Rebecca Malope is still reeling with joy after celebrating her 58th birthday with a lavish, star-studded soirée.
The Queen of Gospel was treated to a glamorous birthday celebration organised by her daughters on Saturday, 25 July 2026, at Divine Sunset Venue in Blue Hills, Midrand.
Draped in a gold gown, Rebecca stole the spotlight against a backdrop of green and gold décor, while guests adhered to the event’s black-and-fur dress code.
The celebration was attended by a host of gospel stars and celebrities, including Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, Khaya Mthethwa, Bongi Dube, Kholeka, Thami Ngubeni, Ayanda Ncwane, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Ihashi Elimhlophe and actress Sana Mchunu, among many others.
A message of gratitude
In a recent post on social media, Rebecca expressed her gratitude to everyone who made the occasion memorable.
“Thank you to everyone who celebrated with me, for your love, prayers, gifts and presence. You made my day incredibly special.”
She also thanked the event organisers, the media outlets, including One Gospel, Soweto TV and Top Billing, for helping to make the celebration a success.
“Most importantly, thank You, God, for Your grace, favour and endless blessings. My heart is full.”
A remarkable career spanning nearly four decades
Rebecca’s career has spanned nearly four decades.
After winning the Shell Road to Fame talent search in 1987, she has released more than 30 albums, sold millions of records, and is one of South Africa’s most celebrated gospel artists.
She has been honoured with the Order of Ikhamanga, received an honorary doctorate, and won numerous South African Music Awards (SAMAs).
Known for her powerful voice and unwavering faith, Dr Rebecca Malope continues to inspire South Africans through her music and ministry.
