Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first-look images from the highly anticipated fantasy film starring Thuso Mbedu, Viola Davis, Idris Elba and an all-star cast ahead of its January 2027 release.

Paramount Pictures has released first-look images from the much-anticipated upcoming film Children of Blood and Bone, which is set to be released on 15 January 2027.
Directed by American filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood, who also directed The Woman King, the film is an adaptation of Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling 2018 novel of the same name.
What is Children of Blood and Bone about?
Filmed in South Africa, Children of Blood and Bone features South African actress Thuso Mbedu in the lead role of Zélie Adebola, a young woman determined to restore magic to the kingdom of Orïsha after it was brutally erased by a ruthless king determined to eliminate the maji, people born with magical abilities.
Alongside her brother Tzain and two unlikely royal allies, Princess Amari and Prince Inan, Zélie embarks on a dangerous journey that could change the fate of her people forever.

The first-look images showcase the film’s breathtaking costumes and offer a glimpse of the heroes, villains and powerful warriors who inhabit Orïsha.
