Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams has paid tribute to his brother in the football fraternity, Jayden Adams, following his death, which left the football community and South Africa reeling in shock.
Williams described Adams as someone who was humble and made a significant impact on people’s lives in a quiet way.
“I still cannot believe that he’s gone. It is a heartbreaking moment. It will take us time to get over this because of the wonderful person that he was,” he said.
“He was a human being before he was a footballer. He was very quiet and humble. Sometimes you would not even know that he was in the room.”
Williams said Adams’ smile and laughter could brighten any room.
He said Adams’ death is a huge loss, not only to the football community but also to the brotherhood they shared.

Adams passed away last Saturday, just a few days after Bafana Bafana returned home from the FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
Details surrounding his death remain unclear as his family awaits the post-mortem results.
Cape Town police have opened an inquest into his death but have said they do not suspect any foul play.
Jayden Adams was a South African professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder for Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana.
Known for his composure on the ball, defensive awareness, and tireless work rate, he established himself as one of the Premier Soccer League’s leading midfielders.
He also represented Bafana Bafana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping South Africa reach the knockout stages for the first time in the tournament’s history.
The Cape Town-born footballer rose through the Stellenbosch FC academy before making his professional debut in 2020.
His impressive performances earned him a move to Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025, where he won the Premiership title and the CAF Champions League.
