- President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended the final report deadline for the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry to 16 November 2026.
- The extension allows the inquiry to fully hear all evidence listed in its terms of reference rather than leaving large parts unfinished.
- A new cutoff of 2 October 2026 has been set for submitting evidence before the commission closes its hearings.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended the deadline for the final report of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference, and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System.
The commission will now submit its findings on Monday, 16 November 2026, shifting from the originally anticipated date of 31 August.
The revised timeline sets a final evidence cutoff for Friday, 2 October 2026.
This window allows the commission to thoroughly conclude the various topics opened during its public hearings to date and ensures that no critical aspects of its mandate are abandoned.
A statement from the Presidency highlighted that the extension is vital to ensuring the integrity of the investigation, noting:
“The extension allows the Commission to hear evidence on all of the matters listed in its terms of reference. Without an extension, the Commission will have to leave large parts of its work unfinished.”
President Ramaphosa praised the inquiry’s progress and commended law enforcement agencies for proactively investigating the testimonies emerging from the hearings.
