- Johannesburg motorists should prepare for major traffic disruptions around Ellis Park Stadium this weekend as the Springboks host England.
- Several roads and intersections will be closed from Friday night until Saturday evening to accommodate the match and ensure public safety.
- JMPD has urged motorists to avoid the area and use the M1 and M2 highways as alternative routes.
Motorists are being warned to expect significant traffic disruptions in and around Ellis Park Stadium this weekend as the Springboks take on England on Saturday, 4 July 2026.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) says a substantial number of officers will be deployed to the New Doornfontein precinct to ensure the safety and security of spectators while facilitating the smooth flow of traffic.
Several roads around the stadium will be affected from 22:00 on Friday, 3 July, until 22:00 on Saturday, 4 July 2026.
The following roads will be affected:
- Joe Slovo Drive
- Sivewright Avenue
- Currey Street
- Beit Street
- Siemert Street
- Charlton Terrace
- Van Beek Street
- Susie Street
- Bertrams Road
- Albertina Sisulu Road
- Saratoga Avenue
- Erin Street
- Miller Street
- Voorhout Street
- 4th Street
The following intersections will be closed:
- Albertina Sisulu Street & Gous Street
- Albertina Sisulu Street & Dawe Street
- Albertina Sisulu Street & Princess Street
- Bertrams Street & Voorhout Street
- Bertrams Street & Fitzroy Street
- Bertrams Street & Erin Street
- Charlton Terrace Street & Van Beek Street
- Sivewright Street & Susie Street
- Sivewright Street & Currey Street
- Sivewright Street & Beit Street
- Upperail Street & Miller Street
- Siemert Street & Currey Street
- Beit Street & Dora Street
- Beit/Park Street & Erin Street
- Miller Street & 9th Street
- Miller Street & Park Street
- South Park Parkade
- South Park Lane & 5th Street
- Miller Street & South Park Lane/4th Street
Motorists are advised to avoid the Ellis Park precinct where possible and make use of alternative routes, including the M1 and M2 highways.
