A bus transporting passengers from KwaZulu-Natal to the Beitbridge Repatriation Camp was involved in a crash on the N1 near Musina after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to fatigue, causing it to overturn.
The driver died at the scene, while 11 passengers sustained injuries.
The injured were transported to Musina Hospital for medical treatment.
Limpopo Department of Transport spokesperson Mashudu Mabata said the road remains open to traffic, although temporary closures may be implemented to allow forensic investigators to process the scene.
“The road remains open to traffic at this stage. However, motorists are advised that temporary closures may be implemented to allow forensic investigators to conduct their work safely. Delays should therefore be expected,” said Mabata.
Motorists travelling along the route have been urged to exercise extreme caution, reduce their speed, maintain a safe following distance and follow the instructions of traffic officials on the scene.
The Department of Transport says it will continue monitoring the situation and provide further updates as more information becomes available.
