- Three suspected mall robbers were killed at the Buccleuch Interchange following a high-speed chase and gunfight on the N3.
- Law enforcement recovered two pistols from the scene and subsequently arrested a fourth suspect intercepted in a second vehicle.
- The multi-agency operation combined provincial police units, traffic air wings, and private security to successfully disrupt the syndicate.
Three suspects linked to the notorious ‘Rolex gang’ were killed during a dramatic shootout with law enforcement at the Buccleuch Interchange on 25 June 2026.
The confrontation followed an intelligence report revealing a group targeting shopping malls across Gauteng using three separate vehicles.
The Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT) intercepted one of the flagged vehicles on the N3 highway. When the suspects ignored orders to pull over, a high-speed chase ensued.
Backed by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Air Wing, and private security companies, the police engaged in an exchange of gunfire before the suspects’ car came to a halt at the interchange.
All three occupants were declared dead on the scene, and officers recovered two pistols inside the vehicle.
While processing the active crime scene, vigilant officers spotted a second target vehicle stuck in the surrounding traffic. The car was intercepted, and the driver—the sole occupant—was arrested on the spot.
“The collaboration between various law enforcement agencies and private security companies continues to produce positive results in the fight against crime.”
The arrested driver will face formal charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. Authorities are continuing their investigation to track down the remaining suspects and vehicles linked to the syndicate.
