The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) unveiled the nominees for the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32) at an event held in Johannesburg on Thursday, 25 June 2026.
Dubbed the SAMA32 Homecoming Edition, this year’s awards will return to the Sun City Superbowl in the North West Province on 15 August 2026.
The last time the awards were held at Sun City was for the 28th edition of the SAMAs in 2022. The ceremony then moved to the Gallagher Convention Centre, which hosted the 30th and 31st editions in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Among this year’s nominees are Shekhinah for Less Trouble, Makhadzi Entertainment for Sesi Ka Rose, DJ Maphorisa and XDuppy’s Abantwana Bakho featuring Kabza De Small, Thatohatsi, Young Stunna and Nkosazana Daughter, as well as Dlala Ka Yona featuring Enny Man Da Guitar, Focalistic, Ricky Lenyora, Uncool MC and Mellow & Sleazy.
SAMA32 celebrates South Africa’s diverse music talent
According to RiSA, this year’s awards promise a memorable showcase where artistry meets innovation.
RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi said this year’s nominees represent more than just outstanding recordings.
“This year’s list is a meeting point between generations, where established legends stand alongside fearless new voices, where Amapiano innovators, Motswako, Jazz virtuosos, Gospel powerhouses, Lekompo, Afro-pop stars, Maskandi storytellers and Hip-Hop visionaries collectively demonstrate the extraordinary depth of South African talent.”
The South African Music Awards (SAMAs) are the country’s premier music awards platform.
The awards recognise excellence, innovation, and achievement across the South African recording industry while celebrating the artists and creators who shape the nation’s cultural identity and global influence.
