- Parts of Pretoria are expected to experience water outages for up to five days due to planned Rand Water maintenance.
- The maintenance project will affect areas supplied by the Palmiet, Zuikerbosch, and Mapleton systems.
- Authorities say the work is necessary to improve the reliability and efficiency of the water network ahead of winter.
Residents in the City of Tshwane have been warned of planned water outages expected to affect several parts of the city for the next five days.
The warning follows confirmation from Rand Water that all preliminary preparations have been completed for a two-phased annual maintenance project on its Palmiet, Zuikerbosch, and Mapleton systems.
According to Rand Water, the maintenance work is aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the water network ahead of the winter season.
Authorities say the timing of the maintenance just before winter, when demand is typically lower, is intended to reduce the overall impact on consumers.
The first phase of the maintenance is scheduled to begin on Friday, 29 May 2026, and continue until Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
Areas supplied by the affected reservoirs are expected to experience water interruptions during this period.
Affected reservoirs include, but are not limited to:
- Akasia, Akasia East and Akasia West Reservoirs
- Ga-Rankuwa East, Ga-Rankuwa West and Ga-Rankuwa Industrial Reservoirs,
- Klipfontein Reservoir,Mabopane Main
- Mabopane Res and Mabopane Central Reservoirs
- Magaliesberg/Rosslyn Reservoir
- Soshanguve reservoirs
- Wonderboom
Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly and make the necessary preparations ahead of the planned maintenance.
