The former Muvhango actress says she filed for divorce in February 2020 and only received her final freedom on Friday, thanking the legal team that helped her pro bono.

Former Muvhango actress Mona Monyane has announced that she is officially divorced, saying she is finally free after years of waiting for the end of her marriage.
The actress was married to fellow industry colleague Khulu Skenjana for four years before they announced their separation in 2020.
According to Monyane, the actor, who is the father of her two children, had been refusing to sign the divorce papers.
“When I tell you I WEPT 😭🙌🏾. I filed for divorce in Feb 2020 and only today, 28 August 2026, am I FINALLY free,” she wrote on her social media platform.
“Thank you Sithole NI and Associates Inc for helping me pro bono 😭🙌🏾. After being scammed and being made a victim of a system that too often has no agency when it comes to the women and children who turn to it for protection, you did the unthinkable and stepped in to help!” she said.
Monyane added that she is looking forward to sharing legal guidance and information with women who may find themselves in a similar situation.
“I am so overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who never stopped praying for me for this day to FINALLY COME!!!
“WE MADE IT!!! I’m DIVORCED!!!”
Monyane opens up about her marriage
In an episode of the hit Showmax talk show UnTied last year, Monyane opened up about the loss and alleged abuse she experienced during her marriage.
In 2017, Monyane and her estranged husband welcomed their first child.
A year later, in 2018, when their firstborn was seven months old, Monyane became pregnant again. Their second child, however, died shortly after birth.
