- His vehicle was shot seventeen times last week, and no arrests have been made.
- Pretorius and his partner were both named at the Madlanga Commission, alongside slain witness Marius van der Merwe.
A suspected police informer has died by suicide at a petrol filling station in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Wiandre Pretorius’s death comes a few days after an attempted hit on his life outside his Boksburg home.
Last week, his Bakkie was shot seventeen times. He managed to survive, but the suspects have not yet been found.
Pretorius and others were implicated in the murder of a Brakpan suspect in 2022. His name was mentioned at the Madlanga Commission by slain Marius Van Der Merwe, known as Witness D.
Witness D was killed outside his Brakpan home last year, after a chilling testimony implicating officials within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Department (EMPD).
Pretorious was a police reservist.
He shot himself in front of his partner, Juan- Mare Eksteen, a police sergeant.
She was also named at the Madlanga Commission.
