Media personality and entrepreneur Nonhle Thema has written an emotional and heartfelt tribute to the late actress Nandi Nyembe.
Nandi passed away on 23 August 2025 at the age of 75. She was buried at West Park Cemetery over the weekend.
Mam’ Nandi’s passing sparked outrage among many actors, with several expressing frustration that the department tasked with protecting them is not doing enough to support veteran performers.
Before her passing, Nandi Nyembe recorded a video that went viral on social media, in which she asked for a job to make ends meet, a revelation that shocked many, as she was widely regarded as one of Mzansi’s finest actresses.
Taking to her Instagram, Nonhle said she wishes the world could have been kinder to the late actress.
“I met Mama Nandi Nyembe last year at the SAFTAs red carpet. What a Queen 👸🏽 She was so beautiful in pink 🌸. I was star-struck, had to ask for a picture, as I grew up watching her on TV 🙏🏽. Wish the world was a lot kinder to her,” she wrote.
She captioned her Instagram post, which includes a picture of her with Nandi Nyembe in a wheelchair:
“May she rest perfectly in the arms of our Heavenly Father 🙏🏽 and her family find comfort in God Almighty 🕊️❤️”
