On Open Line this Friday, Sizwe Dhlomo and Mpho Maboi explored the idea of knocking on doors, following a query from a listener who asked how long one should keep trying.
Sizwe explained that if you are looking for value from someone, you must also provide value in return.
“You must say, I need you to assist me, but here is what I have done so far,” he said. “Don’t just ask for money to start a business when you have done nothing at all.”
Mpho Maboi also shared her experience, saying, “You will get a DM from someone telling you that they want to get into sport. I’m like, okay? To do what?”
She pointed out that if you are seeking help, you must be clear about the kind of help you need.
“Do I now have to go and get all that information out of you? You need to say, hi, my name is so and so, and this is what I would like to do in this particular area.
This is what I have done in the meantime to try and get there. How else can you assist me?”
