South African songstress Lerato Molapo, affectionately known as Lira, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late mother by wearing one of her cherished dresses.
Lira shared a beautiful picture of herself in a pink dress that once belonged to her mother, Buyi Radebe Lichaba, who passed away in 2024, two years after overcoming cancer.
She wore the dress to a Women’s Day event on Saturday, noting the sentimental irony that her mother had worn the same dress on Women’s Day in 2023.
In her Instagram post, Lira expressed how much she misses her mother and pic-mixed an image of them both wearing the dress.
The post was met with warmth and admiration from fans and industry colleagues, including Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Mafu, who wrote, “You definitely got it from your mama.”
One follower recalled working with Lira’s mother at a South African bank, describing her as “the most beautiful soul” and praising Lira as her mother’s “replica.”
