- The NPA in Limpopo has dropped charges against Rudolf de Wet after he agreed to become a state witness in the pig farm double murder case.
- De Wet is expected to testify against Zachariah Olivier and William Musora, who still face multiple charges, including premeditated murder.
- The victims were allegedly killed and fed to pigs after entering the farm in search of food.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo has withdrawn charges against the second accused in the notorious pig farm double murder case.
Rudolf de Wet, formerly a farm supervisor under the first accused, Zachariah Olivier, appeared before the Limpopo High Court on Thursday after formally requesting to become a state witness in exchange for immunity from prosecution.
De Wet’s cooperation is expected to be crucial in the state’s case against Olivier and co-accused William Musora, a Zimbabwean national and former farm employee.
The two still face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and defeating the ends of justice.
Musora also faces an additional charge of illegal immigration.
The case stems from the brutal August 2024 murders of Lucodia Ndlovu and Maria Makgatho, who were reportedly shot after entering the Onverwacht farm near Polokwane in search of expired food.
The two women’s bodies were allegedly disposed of by feeding them to pigs, while Ndlovu’s partner, who was also shot, survived the attack.
The trial has been postponed to October 2025, with the NPA hoping that De Wet’s testimony will significantly strengthen their case.
