Anele Mdoda and Sizwe Dhlomo recently joined Trevor Noah on an episode of Noah’s What Now? podcast, where the trio caught up before diving into a game of If I Ruled the World.
During the conversation, Trevor asked Anele how she was finding married life.
In April this year, the Mdoda and Mgudlwa families confirmed that Anele and her partner had been united in the cultural ceremony of Ukwamkelwa kwabakwenyana: a significant tradition that marks the groom’s official welcome into the bride’s family.
Responding to Trevor’s question, Anele shared,
“I am spoiled. I am pampered. I do nothing, which is great. I do cook, but that’s all I need to do.”
She also spoke warmly about the strength and balance in her relationship, saying,
“He is my dude. He is my guy. I feel so protected and safe. He’s the one person in the world I don’t have to convince to be on my side.”
The intimate ceremony was attended by close friends and family, described as both elegant and deeply rooted in tradition.
It marked the conclusion of the couple’s lobola negotiations, as they now look ahead to further celebrations, including both traditional and civil weddings.
