Beloved South African actress Lesego Marakalla is making her long-awaited return to Skeem Saam following a five-year break from the screen.
Marakalla, best known for her role as Rachel Kunutu, left the show in 2020 to focus on her studies full-time.
At the time, she wasn’t certain whether she would return to acting, which makes her return all the more special for fans.
Taking to social media, she urged her supporters to tune in from 10 June 2025, when Rachel will officially reappear on screens.
Joining her in this highly anticipated return is acclaimed actor Macks Senatla, who reprises his role as Marothi Maphuthuma, Rachel’s controversial on-screen husband.
According to a statement from the show’s producers, viewers can expect plenty of drama.
Upon her return, Rachel is revealed to have fallen in with the wrong crowd, including dangerous new characters like “Lord of the Flies” (played by Archie Nhlapho) and the menacing “Ghost,” portrayed by renowned TV personality Tshepo “Howza” Mosese.
Speaking about her return, Marakalla said:
“It feels good to be back. It is not only about me, but also about my supporters who appreciate my craft. They’ve been asking when I’d return to Skeem Saam, and I’m happy to say that they’ll see Rachel back on-screen very soon.”
