The South African Police Service (SAPS) National Crime Intelligence Unit has found the VW Polo linked to the murder of 30-year-old Olorato Mongale.
According to a statement released by the SAPS on Wednesday, the VW Polo was found with traces of blood at a panel beater workshop in Phoenix, Durban.
This follows investigations which led the police to a lodge in Kew, Johannesburg where two suspects had reportedly booked a room.
“Further intelligence led them to KwaMashu in Durban to the home of one of the suspects. The suspects vehicle was later found at this panel beater workshop. Upon inspection by SAPS forensic experts, traces of blood were found inside the vehicle,” the police said in a statement.
An elderly man believed to be the owner of the vehicle has been arrested.
However, the police are searching for three suspects (Fezile Ngubane, Philangenkosi Sibongokuhle Makhaya and Bongani Mthimkhulu) who are believed to be directly involved in the murder of Mongale.
Mongale was found dead in Lombardy West after going on a date with a man who goes by the pseudonym “John” on Sunday, 25 May 2025.
The man picked Mongale up from her residential complex in Athol, Johannesburg in a white VW Polo.
He drove to Alexandra township, Kew and Lombardy West before allegedly murdering Mongale and dumping her body.
