Limpopo police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against organised crime, apprehending one of the province’s most wanted suspects linked to a series of ATM bombings and aggravated robberies.
The 31-year-old male suspect was arrested on May 24, 2025, around 5 PM, in the Giyani Central Business District.
This major bust was the result of an intelligence-driven operation by the Mopani District Tracking Team, working in close collaboration with members of the Giyani Public Order Police (POPS).
The suspect faces multiple charges, including:
- Count 1: Robbery with aggravated circumstances
- Count 2: Malicious damage to property (ATM bombing)
- Charges related to incidents in the Seshego Policing Area in March 2023, specifically for robbery with aggravated circumstances and malicious damage to property (ATM bombing).
The arrest operation was meticulously planned, relying on actionable intelligence and continuous monitoring of the suspect’s movements.
The multi-disciplinary team successfully located and detained the individual in the heart of Giyani.
Following his apprehension, the suspect was taken to the Giyani South African Police Service (SAPS) station for formal processing and detention. The case has since been transferred to the Provincial Organised Crime Unit for further investigation.
“This arrest represents a significant breakthrough in our ongoing fight against organised crime, particularly the scourge of ATM bombings that have terrorised our communities and cost our economy millions of rands,” stated Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
“The successful apprehension of this most wanted suspect demonstrates the effectiveness of our intelligence-driven operations and the dedication of our specialised units.”
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
