The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced a recall for certain 2024 Ford Ranger models due to a critical safety defect.
The issue stems from a potentially faulty front lower control arm (FLCA) that could compromise vehicle handling and increase the risk of an accident.
According to the NCC, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa informed them of the recall.
The problem lies with the FLCA, which may have been incorrectly fitted on the left-hand side of some vehicles.
Should the joint separate, drivers could experience a loss of control over the affected wheel, significantly impacting the vehicle’s handling and steering. This defect presents a heightened risk of a crash or injury.
The affected 2024 Ford Ranger vehicles were distributed across South Africa and also exported to neighboring countries including Namibia, Botswana, and Eswatini.
Owners of the 2024 Ford Ranger models are urged to contact their nearest authorized Ford dealership without delay to schedule an appointment for the necessary repair.
