A devastating helicopter crash in the Hudson River has resulted in the deaths of six people, including three children, sending shockwaves through the city.
Authorities report that the aircraft broke apart midair before plummeting into the river, crashing upside down.
The incident occurred near the Holland Tunnel ventilation shaft, close to the Jersey City waterfront, at approximately 3:17 PM.
Emergency responders, including the New York Police Department and the U.S. Coast Guard, swiftly arrived at the scene, but tragically, all six individuals on board were pronounced dead.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those who were on board,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams, expressing deep sorrow over the incident.

Reports have indicated that the victims included a family of five from Spain, and the pilot.
The recovery efforts have been extensive, with dive teams retrieving the main body of the aircraft from the river. Investigations are now underway by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to determine the cause of the tragic accident.
The crash has disrupted maritime traffic on the Hudson, with a safety zone established to facilitate the ongoing investigation. The incident has left the city in mourning, with many expressing condolences to the families of the victims.
