King Misuzulu KaZwelithini has reportedly called off his wedding to his fiancé Nomzamo Myeni.
Misuzulu had announced that he will formally marry Myeni in a traditional Shembe Church wedding ceremony (Umgcagco) on Sunday, 26 January.
EWN reports that the monarch has also ordered that all of Myeni’s benefits including her security detail be withdrawn and ceased by no later than 11AM on Sunday morning.
This follows the release of an official letter signed by Misuzulu addressed to the director general Nonhlanhla Mkhize in the office of the premier in KwaZulu-Natal.
“I write to formally instruct the immediate withdrawal of all benefits and security detail previously assigned to Ms Nomzamo Myeni.
“Due to reasons behind the control of the Royal House, the traditional wedding ceremonies involving Ms. Myeni have been called off. As a result, it has become necessary to terminate all associated arrangements,” the letter reads.
According to The Citizen, Misuzulu also fired his spokesperson, Prince Simphiwe Zulu on Saturday, 18 January.
This comes after Misuzulu’s first wife, Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela, recently filed an urgent court interdict to stop her husband’s upcoming wedding.
Mayisela argued that it is unlawful for the king to marry another woman while he is in a civil union with her.
The court application was supposed to be heard in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday.
Misuzulu and Mayisela currently going through a divorce in the Pietermaritzburg High Court. The couple have been married since 2001 and have two children together.
