On Reconciliation Day, a collision along the N9 in the Eastern Cape claimed the lives of thirteen individuals.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) reported on social media that the collision occurred on the N9 at approximately 5:30 am, about 30 kilometers from Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape.
“The collision involved a Toyota Quantum Minibus [taxi] and a Mazda CX5, resulting in a devastating loss of life. Thirteen fatalities have been confirmed, all six occupants of the Mazda and seven from the Quantum,” said the RTMC on Monday.
“The cause of the incident remains unknown and will form part of an ongoing investigation. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.”
