Cassper Nyovest honoured his late friend and fellow musician, DJ Sumbody, on the second anniversary of his passing.
DJ Sumbody, whose real name was Oupa Sefoka, was tragically gunned down on 20th November 2022, while returning from a gig in Woodmead, Johannesburg.
Paying tribute to DJ Sumbody on social media, Cassper reflected on how his late friend would have teased him about his recent spiritual journey.
“I imagine him saying to me, ‘Mfanaka, e re keo botse, we tshwere stele!! Ha re bule kereke, wena o no rera, nna ke tseye ya Koleke,'” he joked.
DJ Sumbody’s foundation recently released a song he recorded before his passing. Titled Sumbody Nice, the song features Murumba Pitch and Junior Taurus.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Junior Taurus said they decided to release the song to remember the beloved DJ.
“It was recorded a day before he passed away. When I listen to the song now, it gives me so much emotion because it was the last song that he recorded,” he said.
Taurus said that he hopes the song will bring commemoration.
“Even when you pass away, there are things on earth that can carry you through time. Even though he’s no longer alive, we wanted to remember him,” he told the publication in part.
