Danny Jordaan, the president of the South African Football Association (SAFA), has been arrested and charged with fraud after it was alleged that he used R1.3 million of the organization’s assets for personal gain.
On Wednesday, Jordaan and his two co-accused, Trevor Neethling, a journalist who is now a businessman, and Gronie Hluyo, the chief financial officer of SAFA, appeared at the Specialized Commercial Crime Court in Palm Ridge, Johannesburg.
Hawks spokesperson, Col Katlego Mogale, said warrants of arrests were issued on Wednesday morning.
“The allegations are that between 2014 and 2018, the president of Safa used the organization’s resources for his personal gain including hiring a private security company for his personal protection, a Public Relations company without authorisation from the SAFA Board.” said Mogale,
