Tyrese must pay $73,000 (roughly R1,3 million) in order to be released from prison, where he is currently being held for unpaid child support. The judge reportedly has handed him an opportunity to avoid jail time if he pays withine 48 hours.
According to TMZ, the singer and actor was placed under arrest on Monday, September 9, after appearing in court in Fulton County, Georgia.
Tyrese was found in contempt of court by Judge Kevin Farmer for failing to provide $10K (roughly R179,088) per month in child support to his ex-wife Samantha Lee for their 5-year-old daughter Soraya, even though he has been required to do so since April of last year.
He has spoken openly about his divorce in a series of interviews and social media posts.

He appeared to be aware of an impending arrest during an Instagram Live the day before court, stating that he had never been arrested because he doesn’t break any laws.
In addition, he questioned why Lee’s attorneys failed to look up his bank statements to confirm that he had been making payments—TMZ claims he was making roughly $2,200 per month.
