Just days before her untimely passing, DJ Fresh interviewed his ex-wife, Thabiso Sikwane on his podcast WAW: What A Week.
The episode premiered on Friday, 30 August on YouTube, a day before Thabiso passed away from a “cardiac event” on Saturday morning, 31 August in hospital.
Thabiso and DJ Fresh, whose real name is Thato Sikwane were married for 20 years before separating in 2020.
Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their marriage ending, Thabiso filed for divorce in 2022.
While the couple share three children, DJ Fresh fathered a daughter from a previous relationship, whom Thabiso included as part of their family.
In part 1 of the interview with her ex-husband, Thabiso, a seasoned broadcaster and author showed her vulnerability and gratitude for God’s favour over her life.
“I get emotional when I look at my week or my day and am constantly in awe of how God has come through for me.
God has come through by giving me the peace that is talked about in the Bible. In His word, that is my manual for life, giving me a peace that surpasses understanding, reminding me that he has not given me a spirit of fear.
Fear is there and it’s real but His word says I’ve not given you a spirit of fear but of power, of love and a sound mind.”
Thabiso opened up about her childhood, recounting the fondest memories of her family as a little girl and she laughed and cried as she talked about her children.
Shortly after Thabiso’s passing, DJ Fresh confirmed that the family is awaiting post-mortem results to find out what caused the cardiac event because Thabiso did not show previous signs of heart-related issues.
