A listener reached out to The Best T in the City with Tbose, feeling frustrated and confused. He shared that a woman he had a fling with over ten years ago recently contacted him to reveal they have a sixteen-year-old son together. The listener, now married, couldn’t understand why she never told him about their child back then. To make matters more complicated, he discovered that the child was born five years before he tied the knot.
“About sixteen years ago, this lady from back home and I had a fling. She recently called and instead of a catch-up, she said we need to meet and talk; however, she wouldn’t say about what. I pushed her to tell me, and she ended up telling me that we have a 16-year-old son.
“I was curious why she never brought it up before, as I would have been there for her. She explained that she didn’t want to interfere with my marriage, but I didn’t get married until almost five years after our relationship. I asked her what she told her son about me, and she said she informed him that I am married and she doesn’t want to cause any problems in my marriage.
“What angers me is that this boy was born five years before I got married and I feel she could have told me about him. She has since said that she is willing to travel from Kuruman to Pretoria so we can do the DNA tests, at her own cost.
“Where do I even begin telling my wife this news? I have four girls with my wife, and have been bragging to her for years that I don’t have any kids outside our marriage and now this? How can I approach this with my wife? I am just so lost.”
