Udeme Okon is the second South African sprinter to win a gold medal at the Under-20 World Championship.
Udeme Okon who is a sprinter of Nigerian origin won the gold medal in the 400m event at the World Under-20 Athletics Championships held at Lima in Peru.
Bayanda Walaza stunned many by winning gold in the men’s 100 meters with a time: of 10.19 seconds.
Okon won the race in 45.69 seconds, beating out Jayden Davis of the USA, who won the silver medal with a time of 46.08 seconds. Sidi Njie of the United States earned the bronze medal with a timing of 46.29 seconds.
