Floyd Shivambu, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president, has resigned from the party to join the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.
Shivambu claimed his membership in the party had expired and would not be renewed. He also resigned as a member of parliament. On Thursday, the EFF held an emergency media briefing at Winnie Madikizela Mandela House in Marshalltown, Johannesburg, to confirm his resignation.
Malema said that he had accepted Shivambu’s resignation and that the news that he was leaving the party came as a shock to him.
“When he sent me a letter yesterday, I felt the same pain, when I received the news of the passing away of my Mother” said Malema
