This year’s SAMAs celebrate their 30th anniversary, promising a variety of new flavors and experiences.
The Motsepe Foundation Record of the Year and RAV Music Video of the Year contenders were chosen from singles released between April 15, 2023 and April 14, 2024.

Some notable mentions in the list include AKA’s music video for “Lemons Lemonade” with Nasty C, Loatinover Pounds’ “Sosh Plata Remix” which captured the vivid street life of Pretoria’s townships. Meanwhile, Blxckie’s video for “Ronda” was precisely designed and thoughtfully executed.
In the Motsepe Foundation Record of the Year category, Tyler ICU is nominated for his chart-topping tune Mnike, which sparked worldwide excitement with its dancing challenge, and Grammy winner Tyla is nominated for her global smash Water.
