“Your spirit radiated kindness and love” – Shauwn Mkhize remembers Zanele Mbokazi.
Mbokazi-Nkambule was a Ukhozi FM radio personality who founded the Crown Gospel Music Awards in 2007. Known as ‘Mazetzet’, she passed away in Parklands Hospital on August 12 at the age of 52.
Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, confirmed her death from lung cancer in a moving statement sent early Monday. Mbokazi-Nkambule’s fight with lung cancer was clear in the months preceding her diagnosis. In April, her health deteriorated, forcing her to miss her ‘Eshilo’ show on Ukhozi FM on Sunday, April 21.
Shauwn took to Instagram to express her sadness and paid tribute to her incredible spirit.
“Today my heart is heavy. I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a dear friend, colleague, and sister Zanele. You were a truly beautiful woman, your hard work and unwavering faith touched so many lives. Your spirit radiated kindness and love, you inspired us all to be better people. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort to us all,”
