The Palm Ridge Magistrates Court has heard that self-confessed serial sex worker killer, Sifiso Mkhwanazi poses a danger to society.
Mkhwanazi, who was arrested in October 2022 after police discovered the bodies of 6 sex workers in a Johannesburg panel beating shop was found guilty on 6 counts of murder and rape, amongst others.
At the time of his arrest, Mkhwanazi was 20-years old, and after the court found him guilty in March, he underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Sterkfontein Hospital.
This assessment was delivered in court on Wednesday, 07 August and is expected to play a crucial role in Sifiso Mkhwanazi’s sentencing.

Forensic Psychiatrist Indhrin Chetty who delivered Mkhwanazi’s report said although the killer and rapist expressed that he was sorry, he did not appear remorseful for ending his victims’ lives.
Dr Chetty said Mkhwanazi would have continued his killing spree had he not been arrested, and did not appear to be out of touch with reality, meaning Mkhwanazi was aware of what he was doing.
Mkhwanazi struggles to express any views regarding his victims’ tragic deaths and Dr Chetty concluded that he poses a high risk and danger to society with these risk factors being largely unchangeable.
Dr. Chetty outlined several risk factors identified in Mkhwanazi’s evaluation, including:
- Lack of social support
- Lack of realistic future plans
- Use of substances like cannabis
- Lack of remorse and empathy
All 6 of the bodies were found in a terrible state of decompostion, and through his lawyer, Mkhwanazi admitted to killing the 6 sex workers allegedly because they demanded more money.
