Glade is honoring the exceptional women in our lives with a special series called “In My Era” on Girl Let’s Talk every Wednesday. This week Andy Maqondwana and guest host Hulisani Ravele interviewed Dr. Thokozane Dyosini, an extraordinary woman in academia.

Dr Teeks as she is affectionately called by her friends who nominated her to receive her flowers, obtained her PhD in her early thirties. She has published an amazing kid’s book called “Cory in the Universe”.
She also has an initiative in which she collects shoes and stationery from people who willingly donate and gives them to young learners in need.
Dr Teeks continues to make her mark in education, particularly in the foundation phase by attending seminars, visiting under-resourced schools for workshops, and teaching kids how to read.
She spoke about being in the era she’s in now and how she has come full circle in her journey.
After going through a transitional period where she had a few difficult back-to-back years, Dr. Thokozane Dyosini had to find her way through her journey.
“I have come into my soft girl era at the back of having no wins for multiple years, I was cheering for everyone else who was getting married, having children, getting promoted, buying a new house, buying a new car, everyone had a win back to back. The moment the tide turned and it was my turn to win I realized I wasn’t being celebrated as I celebrate others.”
As a young lecturer, she also looks out for her friends who are still on the journey of studying.
