It’s been 24 hours since the passing of veteran South African actress, Connie Chiume and her family have shared more details with the public who loved and supported her.
Mam’ Connie passed away on Tuesday, 06 August after a period of illness at Garden City Hospital, Johannesburg at the age of 72.
Her passing comes shortly after the multi-award-winning actress celebrated her 72nd birthday in June.
Since her passing, a video clip from an interview Mam’ Connie had with MacG on Podcast and Chill has resurfaced and highlights the internationally acclaimed star’s humbleness.
Despite her stardom, when Mam’ Connie was asked how she wanted to be remembered, her response was for people to remember her for whatever impact she had on their lives.
Acknowledging that every individual whose path she crossed will have their own view about her, the legacy she left with them and the impact on their lives, Mam’ Connie said she could not tell people how to remember her.
“I’m always asked this question and I don’t have an answer. What I normally say is, I have affected people in different ways. I don’t know how I have affected you, I don’t know what kind of impact I had on you.
So, I want people to remember me the way they want to remember me because maybe to you I was one way and to someone else I was another way.
Maybe my presence worked for some but didn’t work for others. Each and every person has a way where I impacted them, so whatever way I impacted you, remember me that way.”
