FIFA has announced the most recent rankings and head coach Hugo Boos of Bafana Bafana will be pleased with his team’s ascent.
FIFA rankings were updated on Thursday following the Copa America and the European Championship.
Argentina maintained their top spot, surpassing France, who is still in second place despite losing to France in the European Championship semifinals.
After earning four points from their two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Zimbabwe and Nigeria, Bafana Bafana is still among the world’s top 60 teams, but they have made progress on the continent.
The bronze medallists from the Africa Cup of Nations have moved by two spots to rank 57th in the world, while remaining 10th in Africa.
