Judge John Hlophe has been chosen by the MK Party to be their representative in the JSC.
uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has nominated judge John Hlophe to represent it on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The National Assembly is required to submit four delegates to the Magistrates Commission in accordance with section 3(1)(a)(x) of the Magistrates’ Act. During a plenary session, the National Assembly chooses its representatives.
The NCOP is required by the Constitution’s section 178(1)(i) to appoint four permanent representatives to represent the Council at the JSC. Similar to this, the National Assembly is required to send four permanent delegates to the Magistrates Commission in accordance with section 3(1)(a)(xi) of the Magistrates’ Act.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is the same body that, in 2021, recommended his dismissal after taking over ten years to look into and rule on allegations of gross misconduct against him while he served as Judge President of the Western Cape High Court.
